Duh! Advertise Your Own Products Dude!

So my blog has this ad banner down the side, which may or may not annoy you, but hey, what's a blog without adwords these days? Anyway, it suddenly struck me that I was failing to advertise my own products on some prize real-estate. Like, Duh!

So, forthwith, there shall ads for my products! Big shiny ones. Really big shiny ones. Right at the top.

I am such a dumbass…

I think text-based ads that hinted that "XML Manager" and "CSV Manager" were products for sale would be helpful. "CSV Manager: read and write CSV files at high-speed from within your Java application" and "XML Manager: Get data out of XML and into your database" seem like more effective ads.

Also, I would put a header above these ads that says "Software from Ricebridge, Richard's software company."

Finally, I would get rid of all the other ads that are below the two for your company. This would give you even more room to pimp your own products.

Yes, I think a bit of explanatory text would help. The other ads are "experimental". I expect there to be a cull soon enough.

I think you are breaking Google's user agreement by mixing your page with various other ad's... You may want to check that out.

Nah - so long as they're not context-sensitive, you're fine. See https://www.google.com/adsense/policies
under Competitive Ads and Services.
